In 2020, as lockdowns rolled across the globe, the supplement industry scrambled for ingredients to meet spiking demand. Two years later, problems with labor, shipping and now the disruption of war are straining the system and forcing innovation.

Trimtabs Foods founder Andrew Pittz, who grows organic aronia berries on his Iowa farms and works with other farmers on different ingredients through his Trimtab Foods, believes the thickening cloud of crises provides more reasons why the supplement industry needs to grow more ingredients in the United States.
