Tonight — midway through the Democratic National Convention — VP nominee Tim Walz pitches himself to the nation, addressing the biggest crowd of his career. Walz has a tough act to follow. Last night both former president Barack Obama and his first lady, Michelle, delivered barnstorming speeches that recalled the energy of the 2008 campaign. Both Obamas insisted that, despite surging enthusiasm, it’s going to be a very tight race. We get analysis from Chicago with reporter Kevin Liptak.
