Since preppers are constantly talking about bugging out into the woods and we’re in full spooky season mode at la casa Pistolero I decided to go old school and bring you a couple of drive in classics that will make those dark nights at your bug out camp scarier. Both are 1970s classics cashing in on the bigfoot craze that was all the rage then. Both also are grainy uploads of original film stock so forget about using HD.
The first is Return to Boggy Creek which is cash grab/unofficial sequel to classic horror docudrama Legend of Boggy Creek. Return features Dawn Wells (Mary Ann from Gilligan’s Island) and Dana Plato and the plot is standard drive in fare – two men go into the swamp to hunt Bigfoot and three children secretly follow them while unbeknownst to everyone a hurricane approaches. Modern critics hate the movie but it has an old fashioned charm I think is missing from modern cinema.
Next is Sasquatch Legend of Bigfoot, a 1977 feature length horror docudrama made in the same vein as In Search Of. It follows a group of men from the fictional North American Wildlife Research organization in an expedition to capture a Bigfoot.
Enjoy sleeping in the dark forest!
