Save the Date!
After two years of covid tyranny and the ruling class’s seeming determination to thrust us into WWIII with Russia and China simultaneously, it is time to discuss the Anatomy of a Police State that grows like a toxic week all around us.
You see it all around you. You sense it instinctively. You hear it, you can almost smell it. Everywhere the walls are closing in on freedom of speech, freedom of association, freedom from politicization of every small corner of our private lives. Especially freedom to think and act in any way contrary to the dictat of a government-media overclass as oppressive and obsessed with enforcing the “party line” as anything we’ve seen in previous authoritarian eras in history.
The internet was supposed to make us free and, to some extent, it has provided opportunities for the “small” players to reach what was once only available to the well-heeded establishment institutions.
But the internet and the digitalization of life in general has also provided bad actors such as the state and its various obedient enforcers in the “private” sector (such as social media and connected corporations) with heretofore unimaginable tools to suppress “disallowed” thoughts.
An independent media entity can work for years building up an audience and then with the flip of a switch its entire reach can be erased. A metaphorical fuel-air explosion obliterating even the memory of the entity.
Perhaps apocryphally, Trotsky is said to have uttered the famous line, “to oppose the state is to die a slow starvation.” Nowhere is that more evident in our times, where one word from Paypal can starve independent media overnight. And it is happening as we speak.
Step one: Establish (with all assistance from the state) a total or near-total of monopoly over commerce.
Step two: Disappear all voices challenging state narratives to the digital gulag. Rinse and repeat until the state narrative is all that remains.
Save the date for the Ron Paul Institute’s annual Washington, D.C. conference on these and related themes. Venue and speakers to be announced, and ticket sales will open soon.
