Twitter made Kanye West account publicly viewable on Friday, multiple unconfirmed reports circulating on social media say. The reports emerged just hours after his friend Elon Musk took control of the company.
Did Kanye West Twitter account reinstate and was it publicly viewable after Musk takeover?
West was locked from Twitter earlier this month after the celebrity posted anti-Semitic hate comments.
However, there was confusion after reports say his account was publicly viewable on Friday as soon as Tesla CEO took control of Twitter. The rapper did not tweet anything on his retrieved account as of midday.
His last tweet was on October 9. The rapper, who has officially changed his name to Ye, has over 31 million followers.
Musk rejoiced to see West return to the platform on October 8, after a two-year break. He tweeted “Welcome back to Twitter, my friend!.” However, West’s account was later locked for an anti-Semitic comment. “Death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE,” he had tweeted.
“This Tweet violated the Twitter Rules,” a message from Twitter displayed on West’s problematic tweet.
The recent tweets on his accounts date back to October 9 when he asked about the origin of cancel culture. Another of his recent tweets is in support of “Iranian youth” who were “leading a revolution against 44 years of dictatorship.”
It’s not clear if the Tesla billionaire unlocked the West’s account. However, Musk has shared his vision to remove account suspension and censorship from Twitter. He also lifted a shadowban for a user named Catturd.
Will Trump be back on Twitter?
After reports related to Kanye‘s account emerged, many people wonder if Donald Trump will be allowed back on Twitter. However, Trump expressed that he will stay on his own social media platform, Truth Social, which he thinks is safer, better, and feel “like home.”
“I am staying on Truth. I like it better, I like the way it works, I like Elon, but I’m staying on Truth,” he told Fox News Digital.
The former president congratulated Musk on his acquisition of Twitter. He added that he thinks Twitter will not be successful without him. However, he did not comment on whether he would use the platform again or not if given a chance.
Referring to Musk’s plan to loosen Twitter’s content moderation standards, Trump said that the new policy will not affect how he uses social media.
Trump was life banned from Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat after the Jan. 6 Capitol riot last year. Twitter considered most of his tweets connected to the violent protests and warned of “the risk of further incitement of violence.”
