Here are the stories I’ll be watching this week.
After years of saying criticism of CCP social media app Tik Tok was simply xenophobia (which is the CCP party line) Democrats are slow rolling out a new talking point – Trump was right:
Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., says former President Donald Trump “was right” to go after the China-owned video-sharing app TikTok.
Warner made the comments during an appearance on Fox News Sunday, telling host Shannon Bream that the app represents a major threat to Americans’ privacy. He also warned parents against allowing their children to download the app on their phones.
“Well, I think Donald Trump was right. I mean, TikTok is an enormous threat,” Warner told Bream. “So, if you’re a parent, and you’ve got a kid on TikTok, I would be very, very concerned. All of that data that your child is inputting and receiving is being stored somewhere in Beijing.”
Warner is only the most recent in a series of U.S. politicians and officials to call for a crackdown on TikTok. FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr called on regulators to ban the app in the U.S., and FBI Director Christopher Wray warned that it contributes to China’s status as the No. 1 thief of U.S. data in the world.
“China’s vast hacking program is the world’s largest, and they have stolen more Americans’ personal and business data than every other nation combined,” Wray told lawmakers last week, adding specifically of TikTok: “[Dangers] include the possibility that the Chinese government could use it to control data collection on millions of users or control the recommendation algorithm, which could be used for influence operations if they so chose or to control software on millions of devices, which gives the opportunity to potentially tactically compromise personal devices.”
In other words the Chicom government is probably using TikTok to brainwash young kids and their cyber warfare service will use those brainwashed kids as foot troops (what influence operations end goals are) while using their data (like their contacts, parents bank accounts etc) to collapse key infrastructure in the United States during a war.
Here’s a clip:
He’s not the first Dem to say this. I predict pushback on this from the true owners of the DNC but if they’re now saying this publicly there is probably a lot going on behind the scenes.
Thanks to embracing both a radical “green” agenda (it’s not green at all) and an unwise reliance on NATO enemy Russia for it’s energy and fertilizer exports, Germany is not only experiencing blackouts but now meat shortages:
Die Welt, citing the German Meat Industry Association (VDF), reported this week that within the next four to six months Germany will face a meat shortage, and prices will skyrocket.
Hubert Kelliger, a VDF board member and head of group sales at meat seller Westfleisch said, “In four, five, six months we will have gaps on the shelves.”
Pork is expected to experience the worst shortages. The issues in meat supply are due to Berlin insisting on reducing the numbers of livestock by 50% to reduce global warming emissions. Experts are warning this policy will result in mass shutdown of meat-producing companies, and that will produce a 40% rise in the price of meat.
Analysts also warn that the reduction in meat production will also reduce the supply of natural fertilizer, which will cause follow-on shortages in vegetable yields, and concomitant rises in the cost of producing and supplying vegetables, due to the high costs of artificial fertilizers, which are dependent on natural gas as a feedstock for the production of the ammonia which is converted into urea. Both situations will worsen an already untenable food crisis and inflation-driven cost of living crisis in Germany.
Meat industry experts note that although Germany has seen a surge in veganism and vegetarianism over the last few years, over 90% of the population still eats meat, and these costs will hit them hard.
So 10% of Germans are about to starve the other 90%, then themselves. Germany also has record inflation running at around 11%. Most people will be too busy freezing to death to notice the food prices.
Speaking of shortages the Rail Strike Joe Biden supposedly averted looks to be back on:
New YorkCNN Business —
America faces a growing risk of a crippling national freight rail strike in two weeks after rank-and-file members of the nation’s largest rail union, which represents the industry’s conductors, rejected a tentative labor deal with freight railroads, the union announced Monday.
The nation’s second-largest rail union, which represents engineers, ratified its own contract. But the failure of the conductors to ratify their own deal is another setback to efforts to avoid a crippling nationwide rail strike.
With these votes, all 12 rail unions have now completed their ratification process, with members of eight of the unions voting in favor of deals and four voting against it. The four unions that have voted no will remain on the job until at least early next month while negotiations are held to try to avoid a strike that could cause widespread disruptions in the nation’s still struggling supply chain and overall economy.
Be prepared for empty shelves.
We “Ice agers” have been warning of a mini-ice age for years, and the resulting shortening of the growing seasons. Here’s YouTuber Adapt 2030 talking about the “unusual” blizzard hitting western NY. He might be a little new agey for some of your tastes in in the past five years of listening to him he’s predicted almost everything that’s been happening.
Full disclosure I’m an ice ager. I should probably do a series on different theories of Teotwawki.
The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) has filed a lawsuit against the FDA for its guidance against the use of Ivermectin to treat Covid-19. The suit alleges that this is an egregious interference in medical treatment based on lies. Here’s a quote directly from their publicly available amicus brief:
Defendant FDA has improperly exploited misunderstandings about the legality and prevalence of off-label uses of medication, in order to mislead courts, state medical boards, and the public into thinking there is anything improper about off-label prescribing. Not only is off-label prescribing fully proper, legal, and commonplace, but it is also absolutely necessary in order to give effective care to patients. It has never been proper for the FDA to interfere with that essential part of the practice of medicine, and the FDA knows it. Yet it has engaged in a campaign of interference with the proper use by physicians of ivermectin, which has long been approved as fully safe for human use.
Multiple courts have been misled by the FDA’s improper campaign against this medication that was approved as safe for humans decades ago, and the FDA has made no attempt to retract its prior approval. In ruling against patients seeking access to ivermectin to treat Covid-19, as recommended by their physicians, multiple courts have relied on the misinformation and improper interference by the FDA as a basis for denying access now.
Defendant FDA lacks both the authority and the expertise to practice medicine, interfere with the practice of medicine, guide the practice of medicine, or advise about the practice of medicine. Federal law is clear about this, and common sense reinforces it. FDA employees are not practicing physicians, and are not treating patients. FDA employees, for the most part, are not even licensed physicians.
Emphasis mine. Yet again what we see is people who were appointed experts by the media overruling real experts and in this case they perjured themselves in multiple courts.
Attorneys for the FDA are taking the novel approach of telling the court they actually never told anyone not to use the drug, they were just “suggesting” it:
An attorney for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration argued that the agency’s guidance against taking ivermectin for COVID was “not mandatory,” merely a recommendation.
“The cited statements were not directives. They were not mandatory. They were recommendations. They said what parties should do,” lawyer Isaac Belfer said during a federal court hearing in Texas earlier this month, The Epoch Times reported. “They did not say you may not do it, you must not do it. They did not say it’s prohibited or it’s unlawful. They also did not say that doctors may not prescribe ivermectin.”
The problem is the campaign the FDA ran to tell people Ivermectin was dangerous and steer them toward Covid pokes is still live on the web. As are the hundreds of interviews the FDA gave telling people it was dangerous.
Yet another economic indicator is pointing toward a recession in the US:
An often-overlooked economic gauge indicated on Friday that the U.S. economy is headed for a recession — or already in one — as the Federal Reserve tries to curb inflation with a series of rapid interest rate hikes.
The Conference Board’s Leading Economic Indicators index showed that conditions further deteriorated in October, with the gauge down 0.8% from the previous month. That follows a 0.5% decline in September.
“The U.S. LEI fell for an eighth consecutive month, suggesting the economy is possibly in a recession,” said Ataman Ozyildirim, senior director of economic research at The Conference Board.
The slump reflects a worsening outlook among consumers, who are increasingly worried about steeper interest rates and stubbornly high inflation, as well as a prolonged slump in the housing market.
[…]
In a troubling development, the Fed’s rate hikes have thus far failed to tame inflation: The government reported this month that the consumer price index soared 7.7% in October from the previous year, hovering near a 40-year high.
That’s because inflation isn’t purely an economic issue anymore. The Fed can’t print gas and fertilizer or re-open the dozens of food processing plants destroyed (mysteriously) over the last year.
I’m using the Black Friday sale season to stock up on things I might need. For you newish preppers surplus and gun stores will also have sales now.
