Help family apostolate reach more people with authentic Catholic books: LifeFunder
(LifeSiteNews) — LifeSite launched a LifeFunder on October 5 to support a family-run book publisher that provides Catholic educational materials.
Christ the King Books publishes traditional Catholic books to be used by “brick-and-mortal schools, homeschooling families, and co-ops.” The company offers new products and also “republish[es] classics.”
“New donations will go towards finishing several exciting projects underway: our Traditional Catholic Grammar Series, Composition series, and a set of clearly-explained mathematics books,” the family writes in the LifeFunder. “Textbooks and exercises are very expensive to produce, each set generally requiring thousands of man-hours of writing, formatting, rewriting, proofreading, and publishing. The profit margins are actually quite thin.”
“Your donations will go directly to help write books which are truly making a difference!”
Christ the King Books is inspired by the example of St. Thomas Aquinas and prides itself on “giving the student the REAL STORY of what the Church has always traditionally taught” on a given subject.
“If you, like us, are frustrated that Catholic youth (and adults) have often only soft, watered-down, or even erroneous books to choose from, then we ask you to please support our small apostolate,” the family writes. “Funds need to continue, after having invested almost $200,000 of our own family money into this and paying ourselves nothing for almost eight years’ full-time labor.”
The publisher’s goal is to assemble a “TRULY TRADITIONAL” curriculum from kindergarten through high school, with the potential to provide college resources as well. Additionally, Christ the King Books has launched a homeschool program that has left “the busy homeschooling parents feel[ing] secure with a safe haven of education” after just two years of production.
Although the company has two distinct sections, one dedicated to publishing and the other to teaching, the family is “especially seeking funds for the book publishing divisions, as all Catholics can benefit from books.”
“Besides prayers and donations, we are also seeking paid or volunteer help to write textbooks, grade schoolwork, write software, improve our websites, market our products, give phone support, and manage things.”
Those interested in offering their services can find contact information and more details about the apostolate on the company’s website.
