WASHINGTON, DC – Recently released audio captured during the incident at the Capitol on January 6th reveals that Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham claimed Biden would unify the nation in the wake of the incident, suggesting he’s “maybe the best person to have” in office.
New York Times reporters Jonathan Martin and Alexander Burns released the audio that was captured as the Capitol was still being cleared out on January 6th, 2021. Said audio clip featured an exchange between Martin and Sen. Graham, where the Republican senator was sharing his take on what the aftermath of the Capitol incident would bring.

During this conversation, Sen. Graham stated, “We will actually come out of this thing stronger. Moments like this reset. It’ll take a while. People will calm down. People will [say] ‘I don’t want to be associated with that.’ This is a group within a group. What this does, it’ll be a rallying effect for a while, where the country says, ‘We’re better than this.’”
Martin responded, asking, “And Biden will help that, right?” The Republican senator concurred, saying, “Totally, he’ll be maybe the best person to have, right? I mean, how mad can you get at Joe Biden?”
In another clip from the conversation between Sen. Graham and Martin, the Republican senator seemed to be referencing some of former President Trump’s rhetoric in the lead up to the incident at the Capitol – specifically mentioning Trump’s comments regarding Rep. Liz Cheney during the speech that immediately preceded the incident.
“He’s misjudged the passion, he plays the TV game and he went too far here. That rally didn’t help, talking about primarying Liz [Cheney]. He created a sense of revenge.”

As we previously reported here at Red Voice Media, Sen. Graham seemingly maintained that sort of opinion regarding former President Trump and then-incoming President-elect Biden. Speaking on the Senate floor on January 6th after the incident at the Capitol subsided, Sen. Graham said “count me out,” regarding claims of election fraud and proclaimed that Biden was duly elected.
“Joe Biden – now I’ve traveled the world with Joe. I hoped he’d lost, I prayed he would lose – he won. He’s the legitimate president of the United States.”
That same day, Sen, Graham allegedly had a phone call with White House counsel Pat Cipollone. During that conversation, Sen. Graham told Cipollone that if Trump didn’t use the strongest of terms to denounce the actions of his supporters at the Capitol then, “we’ll be asking you for the 25th Amendment,” as a means to have Trump removed from office.
This past February, Sen. Graham managed to attract the ire of the former president when Sen. Graham disagreed with Trump merely entertaining the idea of pardoning some of the people charged or convicted in relation to the Capitol incident, with Trump calling Sen. Graham a “RINO” for disagreeing with him.
