The launch of Apple’s iPhone 14 has brought along a series of issues. Among them, is the blurry camera of the iPhone 14 Pro device.
Apple upgraded the camera of the iPhone 14 series offering a 48-megapixel lens for the very first time. The lens features an improved Action Mode that captures smooth videos. However, users are not happy with the results of the flagship series smartphones.
iPhone 14 Pro camera video gets blurry when scanning QR codes
Earlier, users complained about the camera shaking and capturing blurry photos and videos. The issue apparently occurred while using the camera with third-party apps such as Snapchat, Instagram, or TikTok. The videos captured through these apps were also low in quality and not worthy of being posted.
Multiple users took to social media to complain about the degrading camera’s quality, especially while scanning QR codes or recording video in other apps.
“Hi, @Apple how come my Camera on iPhone 14 pro is blurry when I try to scan something like a QR code or documents? All third party apps have horrible closest distance before being in focus,” a user posted.

“If I use the main camera when choosing ‘vivid’ mode after the pic is taken, it takes 3-4 more seconds to do the post-processing! You can see the pic changing contrast, light, etc in 2-3 times during that time interval of 3-4 seconds. The result at the end is not as good as I had with 13 Pro Max – which did the processing WHILE taking the pics and not after,” a user posted on a community forum.
iPhone 14 camera still blurry after latest iOS update
Users were waiting for an iOS update to fix the camera quality. However, even the latest 16.0.3 update didn’t fix the camera issues.
“Finding a lot of issues with my iPhone 14 Pro. I liked my iPhone8 Plus better :/ the camera in the 14 pro is very buggy and takes blurry photos and videos, and all 3rd party apps take blurry close up photo,” a user tweeted last week.
Users have tried to clean their lens and update their software, but nothing has worked for them. Apple should take accountability of these issues and bring a fix for affected users. There was no official response from the company.
