In the early days of Ontario PC government’s mandate, major changes were proposed to programs and services for children with autism. That prompted a huge reaction from families and experts, which led to a policy reversal, the shuffling of the cabinet minister responsible, and the creation of a task force to recommend a better way forward. Last week, the report of the Ontario Autism Program Advisory Panel came in. The Agenda welcomes the panel co-chairs, Margaret Spoelstra, executive director of Autism Ontario; and Marie Bountrogianni, former Ontario minister of children and youth, to discuss the findings and recommendations.
